The Cabin That Papaw Built
Updated: May 10, 2022
...He alone built this humble place...
The cabin that Papaw built
Sits on the side of a hill
Made with Pine and Poplar
And cut with his own saw mill
Day after day he worked with his hands
To clear a place in the wood
And to build this little ol' cabin
For his grandson's childhood
With his hammer and his nails
And a good bit of determination
He alone built this humble place
And meant it for a little boys imagination
In North Carolina, down a gravel road
This cabin sits among the trees
It has a little bed in a little room
With a porch to see the mountains

This ol' cabin is a childhood joy
For the little offspring for whom it was built
But, one day even they will know it as,
The cabin that Papaw built
